OFF PISTE EQUIPMENT

We get asked a lot about what gear and providers we recommend. This webpage is being built to answer the most common questions

TRANSCEIVER, SHOVEL & PROBE

Ā

For anyone looking to start fresh and get a decent transceiver/shovel/probe combo - here is an excellent option.

This package has a robust metal shovel which is easy to assemble and has an extendable handle. The probe's have an excellent snap lock system which makes them easy to use. And of course the Tracker transceivers are easy to use and reliable.Ā

STASH BACKPACKS

For off piste skiing & snowboarding, These backpacks are ideal for carrying your transceiver, shovel and probe in a designated, safe and easy to get to pocket. They can also do ski or snowboard carry, external helmet carry and have a function so that walkie talkies can be held on the shoulder strap.

AIRBAG BACKPACKS

Avalanche airbags significantly increase your chances of ending up on the surface of an avalanche rather than buried underneath it. Modern day airbags use an electronicĀ  supercapacitor system to inflate the airbag, which means the'yre quicker, lighter, smaller and can be recharged using a USB-c Cable. That means you can easily practise with it rather than just hoping it works.

WALKIE TALKIES

(or 'talkie-walkies' as the French call them)

These make communication soooo much easier when off piste skiing & snowboarding and having a system where it is always clipped to your shoulder strap means it's always next to your mouth. I've tried lots of walkie talkies over the years and hand held ones always find a way into the bottom of your bag at some stage during the day.
